Tetris Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Might Solve This

As any significant prize-giving event approaches, one notices an outcry to include of new categories to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and fill the passions of followers who have specialized interests.

My colleague previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. Equally deserving are tabletop games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. But they will have to forgive me for pushing forward just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification for why my demand remains most pressing above others. The demand is this: There should be an award type for logic-based games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and it will always start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why movie academies don’t do it. However, it represents a necessary evil in the world of gaming, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Existing Game Classification System

Leading game ceremonies offer these award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these classifications effectively encompass numerous genres, and you can find room for numerous titles.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Think about these this year’s best games, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition from another release, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. Which classification works within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match for categories like Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition in any category that year
  • Another creative title received no nominations in 2019
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Limited numbers of logic titles managed to sneak into niche award types

Value of Brain-Teasers

These are often compact experiences, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences worldwide maintaining this status for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game competes with famous sandbox experiences competing to become highest-selling title ever; it also contends for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks for gaming as medium, while interacting with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter such difficulty. You could fill multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, given the need to exclude many worthy titles.

Restating the point, these are games lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary game development, creating some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Just like cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait generations.
